Wakeboard is among the most fun of water sports. Mastering its tricks will make your experience even better.
Want to get the most out of your wakeboarding sessions by learning those cool wakeboard tricks? Who doesn't want to look like the coolest wake boarder out there and hog all the attention? There are dozens of wakeboard tricks and maneuvers and with newer ones being developed the list is only growing longer. You could start by trying some the wakeboard tricks listed here.
The Tsunami Flip was developed by James Wright and involves jumping high to do a back flip. Of course, you can't perform a back flip like that without letting go of the cable. The rider should let go of the cable and catch it again. In the Fashion Air maneuver, the rider strikes a glamour-like pose with his hand behind his head.
In the switch, also known as fakie, the rider rides the board with the feet position reversed as opposed to his normal stance, i.e. if he usually rides with left foot forward here he rides with his right foot forward and vice-versa. In the Butter Slide, when the rider approaches the wake, the board is snapped sideways to let the rider slide on top of the wake. In the Surface 360, the rider executes a complete 360-degree spin of the board while riding the water surface.
The Raley Maneuver involves hitting the wakeboard and then letting your body spin backwards, then up overhead parallel to the surface of the water. Then the rider has to swing the board over the body and land on the other side. The 911 is a Raley modified with a whole ton style. The Switch Air Raley is a Raley done in a switch. The Batwing is a Toeside Raley with Indy graw where the wakeboard is perpendicular to the oncoming water instead of parallel, hence the name batwing. Blind Judge is a backside Raley to blindside 180.
The Tantrum involves executing a back flip along an axis, which is perpendicular to the board direction. The Helly is a 540 spin with an Indy grab. The Backroll involves the rider flipping over the wake on an axis parallel to the board direction. The Frontroll is similar to the Backroll, except that the rider flips forward.
The Boardslide is a wakeboard trick incorporating an obstacle. The rider approaches the obstacle and then slides the board along the obstacle with the obstacle between his/her feet. A Half Cab is when you perform a trick starting from switch stance and landing on regular stance. A Tootsie Roll is a front roll to blindside 180. A Scarecrow is a teside front roll with frontside 180. A Crow Mobe is a 360-degree Scarecrow. The Beer Spin is a 180-degree tail grab.
These are just a few wakeboard tricks. There are a whole lot more out there. More than reading, it's best to go out there and learn and observe from the ones who have truly mastered the wakeboard tricks.
